Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What do I get with your training packages?
Answer: The general answer is all the packages include the things detailed in the "Bronze Package" section of home page. More specifically, we will walk you through all the requirements for you to sell, install and service your customers. We will provide hands-on detailed product information so you understand what each product is and what applications it's best suited for. We will set up your complete sales kit which includes things like a briefcase, tape measure, note pad, calculator, price books, order forms, business cards, product sample books, etc. We will discuss all the tools that come with our package for doing installations. These tools include a cordless drill, hand tools, 6 foot ladder, etc.

Question: I never sold window blinds before, will it be hard to learn?
Answer: By the time you are finished with our program you will be able to go on sales calls and installations with confidence. And remember, we are always here to help! If you run into a tricky application you can give us a ring - toll free. We are open 7 days a week and one of our knowledgeable representatives will be able to assist. Remember, we've been doing this for over 22 years. We have the answers. :-)

Question: Will my prices be competitive? We have a lot of competitors in my area.
Answer: Absolutely. Since the owners of Price Rite Blinds have been selling online for 10 years you can rest assured that nobody buys at a better price. We have tweaked our discounts and margins so as to maintain some of the best profit margins in the industry.

Question: Speaking of margins, what can I as an owner expect to make?
Answer: That all depends on you. We will normally recommend you work on at least a 55% gross profit margin, Keep in mind that that is "gross" profit margins. Your cost for sales and installation is not included. Here's an example: The average job will probably sell for around $400 (installed). Your cost on that job should be around $180. That leaves a gross profit of $220. Typically a sales rep would get 10% (based on them using their own vehicle, gas, etc) and the installer would receive about the same. So, $400 less cost of goods equals $220 minus sales and installation expenses of $40 each leaves you with $140. As you probably know, other operating expenses come out of that amount but you get the general idea.

Question: You noted that sample books are included. Please explain.
Answer: All three packages include a complete set of samples books from our main supplier, Prestige Window Fashions. Prestige offers a comprehensive assortment of products that should cover most of the sales calls you go out on. These are also our best value line of goods which make them the best tool in your arsenal. Without a good base set of competitive products you may not be able to compete. For those who wish to carry a more comprehensive assortment of products and manufacturers we offer brand names like Bali, Hunter Douglas, Comfortex, etc. Prices for those books can quoted on an individual basis.

Question: What type of vehicle will I need for sales and installation appointments?
Answer: Good question. First, it's important to note that we are one of the few offering training in this industry that does not require you to purchase a specific vehicle. This can greatly reduce your upfront costs.
Basically, almost any vehicle will work for sales calls. Just so long as you have room to load your briefcase and sample books in there. For the installation end it depends on if you plan to sub that part out or do it yourself. If you're hiring an installer then they should have some sort of van or sport utility vehicle. If you plan on doing the installations yourself then we recommend you having something similar. A van will work best but sport utility vehicles can do just fine. Keep in mind that from time to time you will need to carry a 6 foot ladder (or bigger), hand tools, cordless drill, screws and the blinds in boxes. If the job is large it can take quite a bit of space in the vehicle.
